My Audience
I think it's Stephen King, in "On Writing", that talks about the need to have an audience in mind when writing. He calls his Constant Reader, and when he writes, that is who he's writing to. He doesn't write for his millions of fans or just generally to the world. He sits down and writes his pages, and Constant Reader is who he is writing to.
I've always kind of wanted to be a writer. But I didn't really have anyone to write for or anything interesting to say to them.
Tonight, while I was folding laundry, I realized that maybe my best audience is my son and his friends. They're great kids, they're into technology and science and all kinds of cool stuff, and I've actually got some pretty cool things to share with them, I think.
So that's the idea. I'm going to start this blog right now by publishing this post on Bear Blog (which I just spent $49 on for a year-long premium membership), and I'm going to tell you about some cool stuff. I hope.
Remind me to tell you about the early days of blogging, too.
